The company has introduced its video ringtone platform throughout the Middle East via an ad-supported service tailored for Nokia phones and Ovi Store customers. This application is free to consumers, and has been launched in partnership with Rotana, which is a diversified media company and music producer in the Middle East. The 'Star Academy' product is an important new business model for Vringo. This new fan loyalty platform brings video ringtones and live voting from one of the world's most popular shows to a broad range of consumers.

Sony Ericsson Buys CDMA Part Of Nortel

Sony Ericsson will buy the CDMA and LTE parts of Nortel Carrier Networks division. The CDMA and LTE divisions will be sold for $1.13 billion. Nortel supplies CDMA equipment to Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, Bell Canada and Leap. Nortel CDMA generated 2 billion in 2008. Coupled with Ericsson, the profits are expected to go through the roof.
This transaction is to be given permission by the by the courts as Nortel needs to get done with the bankruptcy restructuring process. The deal was made after and auction was held and Ericsson won it, buying the CDMA and LTE parts of the carrier. This will be of great help to the sales of Ericsson in North America.
The takeover will add 2,500 employees, out of which 400 are focused on LTE. NSN earlier announced an unsolicited bid to buy the CDMA and LTE assets for USD 650 million, but Nortel organized the auction in the hope of getting higher offers.

Sprint has announced the launch of two new CDMA phones that support the push-to-talk feature. The CDMA phones by Kyocera, viz. the Kyocera DuraMax and the Kyocera DuraCore are set for release towards the end of the year. Print also announced the launch of another CDMA model by Motorola, to be released soon afterwards. All three of these CDMA models contain all the features of standard CDMA phones such as Bluetooth, text and multimedia messaging, 2.5 mm headphone jacks, 3.2 megapixel cameras or above and microSD card slots extendable upto 32 Gb. The Kyocera phones are extremely durable with water and shock resistant rubber skins. Along with these features, the phones will have Sprint's new CDMA based Push To Talk service also.
